Albanian Riviera

Clear coves · mountain roads · long lunches

A considered guide
for two.

A Mediterranean summer with a smaller bill: swim in blue water, road-trip between villages, and linger over lunch.

Couples who want Europe, swimming, and a little road-trip spontaneity.

The shape of the trip

Albanian Riviera works best when you give it enough time to settle. Plan for 6–9 nights, keep the first day deliberately light, and leave one blank afternoon for the thing you did not know you wanted to do.

  • Himara cove day
  • Gjirokastër detour
  • Sunset in Ksamil

Where to base yourselves

  • Himara for a practical mix of swimming, food, and small-town evenings
  • Dhërmi for a more stay-focused beach base

A sample rhythm

Days 1–2

Arrive on the coast, choose one cove, and resist turning the first day into a driving day.

Days 3–5

Use a rental car for one scenic move and one inland detour, with time to stop for lunch.

Days 6–7

Keep the final beach base simple; shoulder season rewards slower mornings.

The honest bit

July and August are crowded and hotter. Shoulder season gives you the best balance of weather and value.

Tirana is the main gateway; a rental car unlocks the coast but requires careful mountain driving.
