Transport is more than the flight
Count the route from your front door to the room: airport transfers, ferries, internal flights, baggage, parking, and the cost of getting back after a day trip. A destination with one easy base can beat a cheaper place that needs daily movement.
Ask whether a quoted transfer is private, shared, per person, or per vehicle. Those details matter when two people are comparing a package with an independent booking.
Fees and inclusions change the room price
Check taxes, breakfast, resort or city fees, conservation charges, beach transfers, and cancellation rules. The least expensive room is not always the least expensive stay.
If the room is beautiful but far from dinner, make the taxi cost visible. Location is a budget line when the alternative is a daily ride.
The small comforts are part of the trip
Travel insurance, data, medication, laundry, tips, and a little cash for arrival are unglamorous but useful. Add them before you decide whether you can afford the one experience you actually want.
Leave a small unallocated buffer. A honeymoon is a poor place to turn every change in weather into a financial emergency.
