The money note

How much should a seven-night honeymoon cost?

There is no useful universal honeymoon number. A seven-night trip can be a quiet local stay, a multi-stop journey, or a high-season beach escape. You can still make a reliable plan by separating the costs that move together from the ones that do not.

Start with the daily baseline

Our destination pages show a starting on-the-ground estimate for two: room, food, and a little room to move. Multiply it by the nights you expect to spend, then add a buffer rather than treating the result as a quote.

The baseline is most useful for comparing destinations on equal terms. It does not know your departure city, room upgrades, currency swings, or appetite for private transport.

Add the costs that sit outside the day

International flights, airport transfers, travel insurance, entry fees, and checked luggage can change a trip more than an extra dinner. Keep them in separate lines so a cheap destination does not look artificially cheap.

If the itinerary includes a boat, car, driver, safari, or internal flight, price it as a complete component. Include the transfer to the component and the recovery time after it.

Use three scenarios

Build a calm version, a comfortable version, and a version with the one splurge you care about. This gives you a decision before prices force one on you.

When comparing destinations, keep the scenario consistent. A basic room in one place beside a private villa in another is a mood comparison, not a budget comparison.

  • Calm: one base, simple meals, one paid activity.
  • Comfortable: better location, a few taxis, and two planned experiences.
  • Splurge: one memorable room, boat, meal, or guide that earns its place.
